Full Spinal Care

Chiropractic adjustment, also known as spinal manipulation, is a technique performed by trained specialists (chiropractors) who use their hands or a small instrument to deliver a controlled, abrupt force to a joint in the spine. The objective of this procedure is to enhance spinal motion and optimize your body's physical function.

Extremities

Extremity adjustments pertain to the manipulation of joints outside of the spine to reinstate and foster their seamless movement. Once achieved, they contribute to your body mechanics, which encompass how you move throughout the day. This encompasses your posture as you sit, stand, lift, bend, carry, and sleep.

IASTM

Instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) is a proficient technique used for soft-tissue treatment in myofascial intervention. Its approach is founded on the principles of James Cyriax's cross-friction massage.

Cupping

For thousands of years, cupping has been utilized by individuals to alleviate back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other conditions. This therapy involves the application of a suction force to draw blood into the skin, which can result in bruising and potentially cause skin infections. Although research on the advantages of cupping is limited, the potential risks associated with the treatment are low.

Kinesio Taping

Commonly known as Kinesio tape, this type of tape is named after its purpose of assisting muscle movement. It is a thin, flexible tape that aims to alleviate pain, diminish swelling and inflammation, and offer support to muscles and joints. K-tape was initially created to boost athletic performance.

TENS

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation):

- Pain Relief: TENS therapy can help alleviate pain by delivering electrical impulses through electrodes placed on the skin, which can interfere with pain signals sent to the brain.

- Muscle Relaxation: It can help relax tight muscles and reduce muscle spasms, which are common issues addressed in chiropractic care.

Ultrasound

Meet Carlo:

Carlo Lapresca, DC, is an Air Force veteran and the founder of ReMotion Chiropractic in downtown Redwood City. He served on active duty at McConnell Air Force Base from 2001 to 2005, where he began his career in dentistry as a registered dental assistant. He later continued his military service in the Air Force Reserve at Travis Air Force Base from 2011 to 2015. During his Air Force career, he served in the Honor Guard and was recognized as Airman of the Quarter.

Dr. Lapresca earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Notre Dame de Namur University and completed a post-baccalaureate certificate in Health Sciences at California State University, East Bay. While pursuing his education, he continued working in pediatric dentistry and spent more than 20 years developing his clinical skills and patient-centered approach to care. He later earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree, graduating cum laude from Life Chiropractic College West.

After losing a close friend to opioid addiction and an overdose associated with chronic pain, Dr. Lapresca became interested in conservative, non-drug approaches to pain management and recovery. His passion for chiropractic grew while treating patients as a student clinician and seeing how individualized care could improve their movement, comfort, and quality of life.

His extensive dental background gives him a distinctive understanding of the relationship between the jaw, neck, posture, and surrounding muscles. He incorporates this experience when caring for patients with TMJ-related pain and dysfunction and works alongside dental and other healthcare professionals when coordinated care is appropriate.

At ReMotion Chiropractic, Dr. Lapresca provides personalized chiropractic and rehabilitative care using adjustments, soft-tissue techniques, therapeutic exercise, and movement-based care. His goal is to help patients recover from injuries, move with greater confidence, and return to the activities that matter most to them.
